Atmel Introduces New Low-Current RF Remote Control Receiver with Industry's Highest Functionality
HEILBRONN, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2002--Atmel®
Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML - news) announced today the new RF remote control
receiver T5743N for keyless-entry, telemetering and security systems.
This receiver IC is the only product on the market with such a
combination of various functions.
The T5743N is a multi-chip PLL receiver device with fully
integrated VCO, especially developed for the demands of RF low-cost
data transmission systems with data rates from 1 kBaud to 10 kBaud in
Manchester or Bi-phase code. It can be used for both Amplitude Shift
Keying (ASK) and Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) systems. The receiver is
fully compatible with Atmel's range of PLL RF transmitters.
The receiver's current consumption is extremely low due to its
programmable self-polling and timeframe check function. In contrast to
other solutions, the current consumption is less than 1 mA not only
for the receiver but even for the overall system including the
microcontroller. This can be achieved as due to the self-polling mode,
the microcontroller does not need to wake up for monitoring if a
correct signal comes in. During sleep mode, the crystal oscillator
continues operating with very little power (typically 200 microampere
at 25 degrees C/ 5 V).
The T5743N provides several functions that make the use of the end
product more comfortable. A data clock signal is available to enable
easy decoding. Furthermore, an IC-condition indicator (sleep or
active) for controlling the preamplifier is on chip. Sensitivity
reduction is possible even while receiving. The 5-V to 20-V data
interface bridges longer signal transmission distances, for example,
if the antenna is located at the rear window of a car.
"We are excited to present manufacturers a new, highly
sophisticated device that will enable them to integrate many comfort
functions into keyless-entry, telemetering and security systems while
still serving the most important need of these applications - low
power consumption," said Torsten Mann, Atmel's Marketing Director for
Automotive Products.
Samples of the T5743N in SO20 packages are available now. They can
be delivered in tube or taped and reeled. Pricing starts at
$1.98 (10 k).
